Pumpkin Face

Solids have been going really well with our little miss. Banana has definitely been the big winner though. This week we ventured into the vegetables. First up, pumpkin. It has taken her a couple of days to decide weather she likes it or not, but she has decided that it is worth the time and effort. Nummy, nummy!

Beating the summer heat

It has been 30+ degrees here this past week and we have been melting. So what better way to beat the heat than a little water play. We have been taking care of a friends garden while they are on holidays and I happened to see that had one of the oscillating sprinklers. So, I decided to borrow it for a few days and see what Logan thought. I remember loving running through sprinklers when I was little. It took Logan a little while to get comfortable with it, but after a few jumps with mum, he loved it.

Trying to drink from the sprinkler. A little harder than he thought.

This little miss enjoyed hanging out in the shade, although she also had a couple of dips in the sprinkler.

Orla, one of Logan's girl friends, even came over for a little water play. Who doesn't love kids in undies?

First Tooth

Well, not even 5 months old and Alena has cut her first tooth. Logan was 6.5 months old when I just discovered his teeth. I had no idea until they were actually quite noticeable, obviously it did not bother him too much. But these last few days our happy little girl has been a bit cranky. And I took a little peak and there it was, a little white dot. And bam, about 5 days later we had a cut tooth.

Now, this shot I think is adorable. Although I think those gorgeous eyes and astounding eye lashes (which we are still trying to figure out where they come from) seem to take away from that pearly little tooth.

An All Lena Post

Lena is such an adorable subject. I can't seem to stop taking pictures of her lately. So here is a photo dump from the last week or so.

Alena loves to be sitting and checking out the world around her.

As I have stated several times, I love this girl's hair. The front tuft is just getting longer and longer. the under layer is starting to come in fast, but it is fun to play with the baby hair. Maybe one day I will actually get it in a mini ponytail. Today, believe or not, I did cut it...duh, duh, duh! Not the gorgeous front piece but the sides. That was just starting to look like a comb-over, and I just could have that.

In the last week or so, Lena has found her feet and LOVES them. If she's lying on her back, she almost always has her little feet in her little hands. Adorable!

This girl is just always happy.

So this is what it is like, having a child that actually likes food. What a difference. She actually grabs the spoon from me to put in her mouth. Or maybe she just wants to chew on it because she's teething. Either way, she just laps up whatever I am giving her. Banana seems to be her favourite though.

Hockey Day

Every weekend Craig watches hockey games online. And Logan, who loves to play it, has started to have enough attention span to watch about a period. He's been asking to go skating and watches little tykes on YouTube skating. So, we spontaneously decided to take him down the the ice house and try out skating.

Getting the skates on...

A little shaky walking on those skates.

First time around, Daddy never let go.

Great shot of Dad and Logan during this first skate.

Posing for mom.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Logan starting to get the hang of it. Still, Dad's not letting go yet.

"Okay, 45 minutes. I think I'm done now."

Sibling love

Now, I have said before it's hard to get good pictures of my two cuties together. But the past week I actually managed to get some luck. Logan loves his little sister.

Giving Lena lots of cuddles

Logan is into this very posed shot. Lena I think is a bit unsure.

I've been more diligent with tummy time these days. And Logan is very helpful, giving Lena someone to look at.

test, test -- new camera

So, after losing my camera on Sarah Island in Tasmania, we came home, waited a couple of days we went out and got me a new camera. After 6 years of owning a Sony Cybershot, I was convinced to go for a Cannon. And I am really enjoying it so far and have been playing with it all week. So here are some of the random shot.

Gramma and Grampa got Logan a balance bike. Logan was a bit timid at first as he is with things to sit on, but he's really starting to enjoy it.

If you are wondering, an airplane just flew over

hockey, the underwear league. Logan is sporting undies these days. Yes, our little man is pretty much toilet trained. It was a lot easier than I was expecting. However, he still is a bit shy when it comes to pooping in the potty, at least he tells us he wants a diaper on. He'll get there!

A little bunny eating his corn.

The new camera definitely has some cool settings. I like this one with the blackened edges.

I have really been trying to get pics of my cuties together. I rarely get a good shot, but this one I actually like, minus the mouthful of peas.

Logan has definitely taken to his sandpit lately. I think it was all that time at the beach while we were away. We have even made a lake with a bucket of water in the middle that he can, yes, throw rocks into :)

Some morning pics in mum and dad's bed. A little blue steel and a happy little miss.

Gosh, she's adorable.

Craig was getting Lena ready for her bath and somehow we got this, Sister Alena.

Lena is finally starting to enjoy tummy time. I went a little crazy here, but I just couldn't help it.

Logan looks so funny here. We forgot his hat at home. I was lucky enough that I had 2 of Alena's sun hats and one was just big enough to fit on Logan's head, although it looks more like a helmet. I'm surprise he wore it.

Logan with his buddy Oscar at the Children's Garden and the Royal Botanical Gardens. These two were soaked within minutes.

Trip to Tasmania

This year we decided to headed south for the holidays, to the lovely state of Tasmania. We decided to take the Spirit of Tasmania overnight, which we have to say was a great way to travel, especially with children. We had our own little state room looking out at the water. Two sets of bunk beds and a crib. It was pretty tight, but very comfortable. Logan was beside himself excited to be on the boat and we walked around, inside and out for a while until almost 10 pm. Way past the little guys bed time. We had some great pictures, but alas I lost my camera on the trip, so we are missing about half our pictures.

We arrived in Devenport bright and early and made our way to Lake St. Claire National Park and stayed in this very remote lodge on the lake. The surrounding were amazing, lots of walks to do and the cabin we had was very comfortable. The only thing that would have been nice to know before hand is that there is no grocery store for 50 km. We managed to buy some staples (pasta, sauce, tuna, frozen bread, milk and butter -- no fruit, veg, eggs or meat in sight) to get us through the few days we were there.

We spent our three days at Lake St. Claire doing walks and spending time at the lake. Logan loved spending time at the lake doing what he loves most, throwing rocks. The trip we ended up coming home with quite the rock collection.

We had some great wildlife sightings, here is a really cute pademelon

Me and Lena on our "short" walk. when you have a two year old, who insists on walking, it does tend to take a bit longer than the estimated 1h30 min.

The next day we bit off almost a bit more than we could chew. We did the shadow lake walk, which was 5 hours long. The kids did great. Logan spent his time in the back pack because it was quite rocky and he accepted his fate knowing that at the top would be a lake to throw rocks in. We did some stops along the way, but we manage to get it done in the five hours. the only negative, I put my back out again. I love the bjorn, but I have to say for hiking up hill when you have a bad back, it does not offer the support that I needed and I really suffered for it in the end.

This was shadow lake at the top, stunning and perfect for rock throwing.

Having a cuddle

More wildlife, yellow-tailed cockatoos.

After Lake St. Claire we headed to Strahan for the remainder of our stay. We did a few walks along the way. Gordon River (yes, more rock throwing)

Nelson Falls

This is Hogarth Falls right near Strahan. Logan walked the entire way himself, such a big boy.

Great shot of dad and the kids.

Poor Craig. My back was pretty bad at this point, so he had to do most of the hard work with the kids. I was just a hobbling mess--poor me.

Strahan beach was AMAZING! It just went on for km. The waves were quite strong, the beach was soft sand, a great place to spend the afternoon.

... and a great place to throw rocks

Alena quite enjoyed hanging out on the beach.

Logan in action, me hobbling behind.

The next day we took a fantastic boatride through the bay and up Gordon River. We managed to get out as far as the lighthouse, which the captain says only happens about 6 times a year because the water is so rough. And, we saw a pod of dolphins that swam beside us for about 20 minutes. Also not common.

Too much excitement for this little girl.

Tasmanian salmon farms

Ruins on Sarah Island. This tiny little island that housed 500 prisoners at one time. The worst of the worse apparently. Now, it is the home of my camera, sniff, sniff.

Our ride for the day, not bad, eh?

On our way back to Devenport we went through Cradle Mountain National Park to do a few more walks. This area was stunning. Australia does have mountains, who knew.

Rare family shot, although you can't really see Lena.

Me with my cheeky monkey

The enchanted walk was the last walk of the day. Logan in one instant decided he was starving, so we took a snack break on the path.

Logan wanted to be carried at this point, it was getting late and he hadn't napped all day. Poor Craig had to carry them both again.

One happy girl
