Tenting it

A bit delayed, but here are a few pics from our first camping trip to Mansfield. The first night was SUPER cold! We had Logan in two pairs of pj's, lots of blankets and his very own sleeping bag. You could barely see him in there. He was as snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug!

Life around camping was pretty hectic with a 16 month old. All he wanted to do was explore. However, he did enjoy sitting in his chairs and playing with mum and dad's coffee cups.

The first day, we were running around trying to figure out what things to do. We went to this town called Jaimeson, which was supposed to be great -- we thought it was disappointing. Then we went to this berry farm, thought we could pick some berries. Nope, no picking berries, just buying berries (however, those raspberries were the delish). We went to the Mansfield Zoo, and that was fun because it was quite interactive. Logan's favorite was feeding the camel, Cybil.

The last couple of days of our trip we did some hiking in the alpine. Our first day, Mt. Samaria. No, we didn't see any snakes, which we were totally expecting. I however had an incident with two bull ants (those things can bite). The hike to the Summit was hot, but there was some gorgeous wild flowers and the views were amazing.

The next day we went to Mt. Buller, this was to be the highlight of the trip. And the hike was easy, the views were amazing. The only thing that took away from it were all the chair lifts. Although, Logan loved all the parked snow plough machines.

After our hike was Craig's favorite park of the trip. He has been talking about going fishing for ages and this trip was going to be the trip. But, our campsite wasn't near a lake and it just didn't look like it was going to happen. But, on the way down was a park and a little river so we decided to stop. Now, the playground was blazing in sun, so Logan just practice his favorite hobby, throwing rocks. And Craig cast his line a few times. And to his SHOCK, he actually caught a fish, a little rainbow trout.

Randoms - Part 2

Here are some last randoms from 2010

This is probably my favorite. Logan falling asleep in his crib with blankie on his head. Too cute.

Logan and Anderson hanging out watching some Thomas

Logan trying to talk to Daddy at work.

The two boys "fixing"

Our musician in the making -- He loves playing guitar.

Now that Logan can climb up onto almost anything, he loves to climb onto the tub and throw all his toys, soap, shampoo, anything that is there, into the tub.

This is just cute. On New Years Eve, we had a little visitor in the backyard, a little ringtail possum. He was so cute.

A Christmas rundown

I know it has been a month since I last posted, but things have been a bit hectic, so once again it will be an blast of many postings...so here is the first one -- Christmas.

It was our first real Christmas with Logan this year as we were in New Zealand last year. We got a tree and Logan helped us decorate it. Although, he was not that interested in putting ornaments on the tree, more just taking them out of the box and finding the little ball ornaments and trying to throw them around the house. If it's shaped like it ball, it must be a ball right? or so Logan thinks.

We did a little bit of Christmas baking. Logan and his buddy Anders were involved in baking Gingerbread people and also some shortbread. I decided to tackle some of the Novotny Czech cookies (pretty much just the bear claws, and I have to say, SUCCESS). And Craig tried a hand and making rum balls, can't have Christmas without rum balls right?

Then Logan and I ventured downtown one day to check out the Myer Christmas display. First the windows. Now, I cannot remember what the Bay windows were like in Vancouver, but I don't think they were such a big deal. I got to Myer at about 10 am and there was a line for about 30 minutes. Now, Logan is not much of a fan of the stroller these days and I did what I could to keep him happy in it, but it didn't last long. Juggling him and the stroller was a bit of a challenge, but the old couple behind me were nice enough to push my stroller. However, the windows were pretty amazing, but worth the wait with a toddler? I'm still sitting on the fence about that one. After that we went to Santaland, where the line to see Santa was so long that I was so thankful I had just gone to the mall a couple of weeks before (however, maybe this Santa smiled??) We did however stand inline for the little Santa train, which was DEFINITELY worth the wait. It was only about 15 minutes and I was able to park the stroller. And even though Logan was squirming and flailing everywhere and I found my patience slowly lowering, we made it. He was so excited and in aw of the whole thing, it was so cute. I was tempted to stand inline again, but the line looked twice as long. I wasn't pushing my luck!

Now, here is the bad part. We got so into opening gifts and such, that we didn't actually take any pics. Bad mummy and daddy. I can however say that Logan still wasn't really into opening the gifts or even playing with the paper. As soon as the first car had made it's appearance, he didn't seem interested anymore.

Anyway, Christmas 2010 was a success. Can't wait to do it again next year :)
